RAF Regiment Demonstration Day

The RAF Regiment Flight at DCAE Cosford have invited Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing ATC to a Demonstration Day this half term, on Wednesday 29 Oct. The day will include a talk on the role and current operations the RAF Regiment are involved with, the chance to handle (no, not fire!) various weapons (from British SA80 to AK47), a experience pyrotechnics in action.

Fg Off Chapman will be providing transport for this event, timings to be confirmed. All enrolled Cadets and staff are welcome. I know EVERYONE wants to go on this trip, but we only have 15 seats on the bus... Once Sqn Ldr Martin has confirmed how many places we can have, we'll take a names draw on Sunday.

Depending on the finishing time, we may stop for dinner on the way home and jump straight in to the Wednesday evening training program on return to the Squadron.

Wing Radio Operators Course - Date Change

We have been advised that the Provisional Radio Operators Course, announced on parade last week as being held on Thursday 30 Oct 08, is actually being held this Sunday, 26 Oct 08. This is great news, as it should mean more people can go!

However, most other Squadrons may be thinking the same thing, so to cement YOUR place on the course, please let Mrs Cresswell know ON SUNDAY if you definitely can go. We have four places reserved, but if we want more we'll need to put bids in ASAP.

Regional Commandant to make Visit

A photo of Grp Capt Morrell

The Regional Commandant for Central and East Region, Group Captain Brett Morrell RAFR, will be coming to inspect Coventry Airport Squadron on on 26 November.

Central and East Region comprises of 5 Wings, covering an area from Warwickshire in the West of England through to Norfolk on the East coast, and from Cambridgeshire, in the South through to the River Humber in the North. The Commandant is responsible for 145 Squadrons (including one in Gibraltar) - so we've got a lot of competition for getting a visit!
