Cyprus Camp 2010

Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing have been provisionally assigned 4 male and 1 female place on the Easter Cyprus Camp, RAF Akrotiri, 27 Mar to 5 Apr 10.

To be eligible cadets must 15 years of age or over at the start of the Camp, be physically fit, have attended at least one UK camp, be a Leading Cadet or above, and hold a full passport.

We don't have any details on cost yet, but as a guide, last-years up-front cost (for air-fare, insurance and camp levy) was £275, and the suggested spending money (which includes messing) was £135. No deposit is required to bid for a place; payment will only be required once selections have been made.

If you are eligible and would like to nominate yourself for a place, please inform the Adjutant by 24 Jan 10.

Training Programme - Wed 13 Jan 10

Despite the snow today, we shall parade as normal this evening. Only change to the TP is that RTF will continue with the Airmanship lesson they missed last week.

Dress: No2C (Working Blues).

Easter Camp - RAF Waddington

RAF Waddington Crest Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing has been allocated 30 places (20 male, 10 female, plus 3 officers and 2 CIs) for an Easter Camp at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire, between 24-31 March 2010.

As everyone at the Christmas Quiz will know, Waddington is an operational front-line station and home to the RAFs Sentry (Airbourne Early Warning and Command aircraft), the Sentinel (carrying the new Airborne Stand-Off Radar system) and the super sneaky Nimrod R1 (electric intelligence).

If you would like to bid for a place on this camp, you must inform the Adjutant by Sunday 24 January.

NB: RTF cadets - as you will have completed your First Class training in the next couple of weeks, you are also eligable for this camp!

Nominations Open for February JNCO Course

We have had confirmation that a JNCO Leadership Development Course, open to both male and female cadets, is to be held at DCAE Cosford over the weekend 26-28 February.

Cadets wishing to attend must be 15 years old, First Class, competent at drill, and be recommended by their OCs as a potential NCO. Following on from canceled courses last year, the number of bids made across the Wing is expected to be large - so I can tell you now that not everyone eligible to attend will be selected! There are only 40 places for the whole Wing.

The cost will be £15, which will cover a packed meal on arrival, full messing, certificate, course photograph, refreshments and a copy of the WBW JNCOs Handbook.

If you would like to bid on a place, you must bring a cheque (payable to M D Harrison) to the Sqn before Wednesday 20 Jan 10.

January Training Programme

The training programme is now available for January. This master TP is subject to revisions, so keep an eye on it!
