IWM Duxford Battle of Britain Event

On Sat 15 May 10 the IWM Duxford will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain with a special event to celebrate the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and to launch the Flight’s 2010 season. The event will demonstrate how the camaraderie and bravery of the Battle of Britain pilots continues to inspire the RAF’s contemporary mission and will include a ground display of aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, including the Lancaster, Dakota, Spitfires and Hurricanes alongside contemporary RAF aircraft. RAF pilots and personnel will meet and mingle with visitors, who will also have the opportunity to chat with Battle of Britain veterans.

The event will also showcase the diverse roles of the contemporary RAF with a range of ground activities, including performances by the Band of the Royal Air Force College and will culminate with a Sunset Ceremony with the Queen’s Colour Squadron in honour of all RAF personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The ACO has been invited to attend free of charge (up to 1500 cadets) and the new Air Cadet Experience (ACE) Platform (mobile activity centre) will be displayed, possibly, together with other cadet displays.

Wing HQ will be arranging for one coach to transport cadets and staff from this Wing. If you are interested in going and would like to bid on a place, please email or speak to the Adj before 14 April.
