July Training Programme

Coming up this month:

  • Wing Training Day (WTD) - Sunday 6 July. In preparation for this big event only those in the drill team or modelling group (or otherwise specifically involved in WTD) are to attend parade on Wed 2 July. (Uniform will be Civvies but with coveralls for the modellers and parade shoes for those in the drill team). Further details for the actual event to be confirmed
  • Royal Air Force Association Youth Visit - Wednesday 09 July. Cadets will enjoy a presentation from the RAFA Youth section on how they can get involved and what opportunities are out there for young people interested in aviation, the RAF and military life!
  • Summer BBQ - Sunday 13 July. Parents and guardians are invited to share in the success of the whole Squadron at the annual summer BBQ. Replies to the office for catering before 09 July please. More details coming soon!
  • Gold DofE Expeditions - This month several cadets will take to the North Yorkshire Moors for a tough but exhillerating few days of walking to complete the expedition element of their Gold Duke of Edingburgh's Award. Good Luck!
  • White Water Kayaking Weekend - 26-27 July. Over the weekend cadets will learn the basic skills in white water kayaking gaining their BCU Level 1 qualification. For those who attended in previous years there will be a chance to improve their qualifitications and take it to the next level. 
  • Practical Map Reading Exercises - Sun 27 Jul. Opportunity to put into practice map reading skills in a visit to either Ryton Pools or Coombe Abbey Park (TBC) on the orienteeering course. Older, more experienced Cadets will be leading groups of junior cadets to pass on their skills.
