Coming up this month:

  • Sun 2 Nov - Visit to National Memorial Arboretum: 18 cadets and 3 staff visited this national treausure as part of the season of remembrance. See seperate post about the visit.
  • Sun 9 Nov - Remembrance Parades. This year the squadron will be parading both in Baginton Village and Coventry city centre. See seperate post for all the timings and details for each parade.
  • Tuesday 11 Nov - Cadets and staff will travel to Bedworth town centre to take part in one of the biggest Armistice Parades outside of London. It is quite a priviledge to take part in the huge parade followed by the two minutes silence at 1100hrs on 11th day of the 11th month. Details will be given to the cadets attending and will be on their emails. Please note cadets attending will need permission from school to attend.
  • Sat 15 Nov - 4 Cadets will travel to RAF Cosford to take part in No8 Live Fire Marksmanship Training. The cadets who have to pass a 6-monthly weapons handing test will get to put this skills to use on the 25m barrack range firing at a variety of targets and hopefully gaining a marksmanship badge.
  • Sat 22 Nov - Opportunity for those L98A2 qualified cadets to fire at 100, 200 & possibly 300m at Kingsbury Range Day. This also allows cadets chance to fire from different positions such as kneeling and sitting.
  • Sun 23 Nov - We have our final allocation for flying of 2014. Fingers crossed we get some cadets up in the air this time around. At the moment we have 6 places but please be aware this may well be reduced due to pilot availability. More details to come.
  • Thurs 27 Nov - Climbing session at Redpoint Climbing center. A joint activity with cadets from 2286 Squadron to try out a new activity or for those with experience, to  progress onto more challenging climbs. Names and money to be paid IN ADVANCE to the office.
  • 28-30 Nov - Cadets from 84 Squadron will be travelling to Nesscliffe Training Camp to take part in a joint fieldcraft and expereince weekend with 480 Squadron. Over the weekend cadets will learn how to make up their bed-packs ready for inspections, take part in drill lessons, first aid qualifications, climbing and even get the chance to fire (depending on qualifications) as well as much much more. All this is costing just £5!!!! Money needs to be paid for those cadets already signed up ASAP.
Another busy month for the cadets and staff of 84 Squadron!!! We are also continuing with academic lessons on Wednesday parades so please ensure you are there to get through the material as we hope to hold the exam sessions at the end of the month and beginning of December so that we can all have a big end of year social to celebrate!
