A New Year, A New Enrollment

On Wed 18th January 2017, the latest group of recruits were enrolled formally into the Air Training Corps at 84 Squadron in a short ceremony during the final parade of the evening.

Parents and guardians were invited to watch their sons and daughters recite the Cadet Promise before receiving their berets and Cadet record of service books, the 3822. The ceremony was conducted by Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Rosie Robinson RAFVR(T) and the Squadron Padre, Reverend David Wintle.
During the evening, eleven cadets were part of the ceremony which sees the cadets move on from the initial 'Orange' flight and be allocated into one of the main flights within the squadron to continue with their activities. The group all joined the Air Cadets back in September 2016 and since starting they have worked towards their First Class qualification with an introduction to many of the subjects they will go one to develop. These include basic map reading, radio communications, airmanship and many more.
Congratulations to all who were enrolled this week, we look forward to continuing seeing you as part of 84 Squadron.

We will be holding our next Open Evening in early February, watch out for more information coming soon.

Notices have gone up on the Squadron noticeboard with current bids already added. Cadets need to check dates and sign up by end of parade on Wed 25 January for the main RAF camps so we can send in bids before the deadline. Welcome back to 2017

Happy New Year to one and all, we hope you've all had a fantastic festive season and are back into the swing of the new year ready to return to parades all refreshed!

See below links for the January Training Programme. February and March programmes are in the pipeline too so there's as much information out in advance as possible.
Remember to keep checking and regularly check the Facebook site as any last minute changes will be posted on there.

2017 is already shaping up to be a busy one and 84 Squadron is going to build on an impressive 2016 to make this the best year yet. So come along to be part of this, get involved and try something new. We'll be holding an intake in February this year so start spreading the word to anyone interesting in joining.

The Annual Awards Dinner: There will be more information coming home via the letter on the first parade back  - details for the uniform options will be included. ALL slips and money must be brought back on the first parade back on Sunday 8 January so we can inform the venue the final catering numbers. This is an exciting opportunity for the Squadron to come together and celebrate the past year's achievements.

Annual Camps: There will be a letter coming home on Sunday with details for the Annual Camps this year. We have very limited opportunities so please bid for any you are interested in and we will combine the return. If you find out later in the year that you have other commitments, please let us know as early as possible as there will definitely be replacements who would happily take up the place.
